US State Department makes baseless claims against Iran (11)
The Western regimes, especially the US, claim to champion human rights. However, the facts show otherwise. The reports released in this regard show the flagrant violation of human rights in the US and some European countries.
One of the prime examples of breach of human rights in the West is the Islamophobia campaign in Western communities.
During the recent years, innumerable reports have been published which refer to violence against Muslims in the West. Resistance against Islamophobia has always been a talking point in the human rights negotiations of Islamic Republic of Iran and the European Union. However, the Western regimes’ reaction to this topic of concern has been highly politically motivated. Meanwhile, Islamophobia has turned into a common behavioral pattern in several Western communities.
In the Western propaganda campaigns, Muslims have been wrongly depicted as illogical, old-fashioned, and violent individuals. In fact, Islamophobia has turned into a part of the everyday lives of youths and radical groups in the European countries and the US.
One of the root causes of animosity of Europeans toward the divine religion of Islam is presentation of new views, which name Islam as a source of threat against Western civilization, and a contemporary replacement for Communism, Fascism, and Nazism.
Based on these anti-human thoughts, West has stepped up its racist confrontations against Islam, and the anti-Islamic currents in the West continue their resentful and despicable acts against Muslims.
The European Council, in a report in the year 2015, warned France against mounting racism toward religious minorities, especially Muslims, urging the French administration to tackle and counter surging racism and hate crimes in that country, and demanding an end to Islamophobia in that country.
This report stipulates that the majority of hate crimes against Muslims in France have targeted Muslim women. The attacks on Muslim women in France have included physical attacks; throw of animal feces or bottles from cars; and insulting remarks.
In the wake of emergence of bouts of violence against Muslims in Paris in the last two years, French Islamic Council has mentioned a total of 147 attacks against Muslims, while noting that 26 mosques have been recently targeted in these racist attacks against Muslims.
The racist attacks are fueled while a number of French politicians, who claim to champion human rights, have also fanned the flames of anti-Islamic current in that country. For instance, the French Premier, Manuel Valls, uttered insulting remarks against the divine religion of Islam, and the former French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, staged a propaganda campaign against Hijab.
Meanwhile, in Britain, the violation of Muslims’ rights has taken new dimensions, with Muslim women comprising the majority of victims of Islamophobia campaign.
In fact, half of bouts of violence against Muslims in Britain target women, who comply with Islamic dress code.
Latest figures in US show that the number of Muslims in the US equals the number of Jews who live in that country. In large cities, such as Detroit, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, the presence of the Muslim minority is highly tangible.
Also, large numbers of Muslims live in Europe. In fact, currently 15 to 20 million Muslims reside in Europe, and if Turkey joins the European community in the future, European Muslims will rise to a hundred million people. This development is not something which the strategists of the European community can be comfortable with. France has the highest number of Muslims in Europe. Thus, Islam is the second main religion of France after Christianity.
Countless reports prove beyond doubt that violation of human rights in France has turned into a common and natural phenomenon.
Religious minorities, such as Muslims, in addition to Arabs and people of color are not recognized, and fall victim to racist and radical attacks in France.
Meanwhile, the killing death of two teenagers of African descent by the French police, led the second class citizens of France to stage an uprising to achieve and fulfill their natural rights.
The French Muslims are mainly concerned over the large-scale anti-Islamic propaganda campaign of French media; and the ban imposed on Islamic publications and duties, such as compliance with the Islamic dress code.
Sharp rise of Islamophobia in Europe, US, and Canada; and opposition to migrants in those regions have generated concerns.
Incidents, such as violation of rights of Iraqi citizens by British troops; mistreatment of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib Prisons by Americans; and the misconducts of Serbs amid the Balkan crisis, are all rooted in resentment and prejudice against Muslims.
According to international rules and regulations, non-compliance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is considered as violation of human rights, leading to the punishment of the related violators. Aren’t the despicable crimes committed against Muslims in Europe and the US, prime examples of breach of human rights?
The publication of insolent cartoons of the Prophet of Islam, Mohammad (Blessings of God upon him and his progeny) in the press and media of ten European Union member states, shows the organized Islamophobia campaign in Europe.
Such sacrilegious and blasphemous measures in the West are in fact rooted in racist thoughts toward East, and especially Muslims. Nonetheless, the US and European regimes continue to claim to champion human rights.
