Since 2011 when UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO accepted Palestine as a member, the US and the Zionist regime have expressed criticism of this organization which has recently culminated in their withdrawal from UNESCO.

The US recently announced it will withdraw from UNESCO to support the usurper fake regime of Israel. The act will be put into effect on December31. The US had cut off financial aid to UNESCO in 2011, after Palestine was accepted as one of the member states of the organization. The Zionist prime criminal Benjamin Netanyahu in a statement described the US withdrawal from UNESCO as brave, stressing that it will also withdraw from the UN-affiliated body. The Zionist regime has referred to this act as a new commitment.

This is the second US administration which has done this. Earlier, the Reagan administration had pulled out of the organization in 1980s and two decades later, during George Bush era, the US once again joined this organization.

The situation of Bayt ul-Moqaddas and the holy Al-Aqsa mosque have been disputed for years. The UN considered these regions as occupied and called on the spurious Zionist regime to return to the borders prior to the 1967 6-day war. In return, the regime wants Bayt ul-Moqaddas to be recognized as the capital of the fabricated regime and the Palestinians are seeking to retake Eastern al-Quds to register it as their own capital.

In October 2016, UNESCO took votes from its members for Al-Aqsa mosque and the Wailing Wall and based on this vote it was declared that Al-Aqsa Mosque does not belong to the Jews. In this voting, 58 member states except the Great Satan (the US) voted to this decision. The Zionist regime’s TV claimed the UN approval of UNESCO decision would create hurdles in the way of creating what it called "peace" with Palestinians.

On July 4, UNESCO, in a statement stressed that Israel has no ownership on Bayt ul-Moqaddas. Approving a resolution, UNESCO condemned the Zionist regime for violating international laws in the city and Gaza Strip and referred to Israel as the occupying force.

The resolution called on the Zionist regime to return Al-Aqsa mosque to the pre-2000 situation when all of its affairs were administered in Jordan’s Endowment. In part of article 8 it has been mentioned that UNESCO strongly condemns the increasing Israeli aggressions and its illegal restrictions against the endowment office and the staff and against Muslims' freedom of worship and their access to their sacred place, Al-Aqsa mosque.

Article 9 found the Zionist security forces as responsible for the attack of Israelis on Al-Aqsa Mosque and article 10, denounced continuous aggression of Israelis against the rights of Palestinian citizens, religious personalities and mosques and detaining and injuring the Muslims engaged at the rituals.

In this resolution, construction of private routes for Zionist settlers and barrier wall in the old part of Al-Khalil has been explicitly condemned. The stopping of organized and provocative violence by settlers and other murderous groups against Palestinians, especially children and students, have been stressed in UNESCO resolutions. Expressing deep regret over the Zionist regime’s refusal to implement previous resolutions on eliminating two Palestinian sites from the Jewish National Heritage, UNESCO once again called on the regime in Tel Aviv to give up lawlessness and implement all UNESCO ratifications.

In July, the Zionist regime’s channel 10 TV revealed the US President Donald Trump's measure for pressuring UNESCO members. The channel announced that Trump forces the UNESCO member states to cancel the decision taken about Al-Aqsa Mosque on rejection of Zionist regime's control over al-Aqsa.

The TV quoted sources in Washington as saying; "The pressures are made because the UN wants to vote for UNESCO decision on Al-Aqsa Mosque and forces the Zionist regime to abide by it. For this reason, the US wants to prevent its adoption by the UN." The network’s commentator says US ambassadors in UNESCO member states try through the US state department to prevent the vote of these countries against the Zionist regime.

Following the approval of the resolution, the Zionist regime took several measures for lifting it one of which was to cut off its financial aid to the UN. The regime reduced the financial aid to the UN from 11 million to 3,700,000 dollars. Of course, since December 2016, the Zionist regime has cut $ 9 million from its total cash contribution to the UN. The ratification of anti-Israeli resolution of Human Rights Council against the child-killer Zionist regime led to the decrease of two more million dollars of Tel Aviv aid to the UN.

It is noteworthy that Benjamin Netanyahu resorted to cheating. Netanyahu claimed that he has presented a map to UNESCO which has been seized from a robber of historical monuments. He planned through this map to protest to UNESCO’s resolution which rejected any historical and religious relationship with Al-Aqsa Mosque and Quds. The Zionist prime criminal claimed that the existing word on the map shows the relationship between the Jews and Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque. But archaeologists dismissed the authenticity of the claimed map. According to the news site of Palestine Al-Yaum, the archaeologists have expressed doubts on the accuracy of the map on which the word "Quds” is displayed.

As the deadlock approaches, the Zionist officials resorted to superstitions and expressed weird words. The member of Likud party and the Zionist parliament (Knesset) Ayoub Qura claimed that UNESCO ratification against the Zionist regime and ignoring the connection between Jews and Quds is the reason for Italy’s earthquake. During his visit to the Vatican, Ayoub Qura stressed that the occurrence of the Italian quake is the repercussion of the approval of UN resolution and its content must change.

Following the approval of the draft resolution, UNESCO’s secretary general, issued a statement, stressing the importance of preserving all cultural, religious and historical heritage of Bayt ul-Moqaddas. Irina Bokova wrote in the statement "As I mentioned in various occasions and recently at the 40th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, Bayt ul-Moqaddas is the holy city of three monotheistic religions, namely Judaism, Christianity and Islam and to honor the great cultural and religious diversity, the city has been registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Bokova added that Bayt ul-Moqaddas heritage is integrated and each of the existing communities has the right to recognize their history and relationship with the city. Denying, abolishing and eradicating any of the traditions related to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam will destroy the integrity of this site.

UNESCO secretary general said: The global value and prominence of the city for registering on UNESCO World Heritage List is a reason to talk and not to encounter each other. Our duty is to strengthen this cultural and religious coexistence with the power of law and with the power of words, and now the need is felt more than ever to bridge the differences that threaten the multi-religious character of this historic city.

German Magazine Spiegel Online wrote on Friday October 13, that Trump now brings the case to a dead-end, demonstrating his little commitment to international obligations and his strong determination to isolate the US, even at the expense of negative implications.

Until 2011, when the US differences with UNESCO over the Palestinians have not yet intensified, it provided 22% of the budget of the organization. But as the US has not paid its share, UNESCO has announced that the US debts to this organ have totaled to over $ 500 million.

Russia’s Internet newspaper RBK has written: The US will leave UNESCO and it almost admits that it took the decision because it is unwilling to repay its debts to this UN Structure. The second reason for this decision is the fact that no one really likes the usurper regime of Israel in UNESCO. Precisely for this reason, after Washington's announcement, Tel Aviv quickly withdrew from the organization.

According to Russian expert of international affairs, Maksim Suchkov, Washington's decision to withdraw from UNESCO not only has financial implication, it is also a political move to support Donald Trump's logic on the UN, which shows his indifference to US commitments towards the global organizations. According to him, US's withdrawal from UNESCO would lead to further loss of credibility for the US.
