    A very old and well-established tradition in Iran for ushering in the new year is to lay the spread of Haft Sin or alternatively to lay the table of Haft Sin in one's home. With only days or just hours to go until the start of a new year, Iranians lay a special table (or a special spread), known as the Haft Sin Table (or the Haft Sin Spread).

    The Persian New Year, Nowruz, coincides with the arrival of spring and the changing of the seasons. It is also a wonderful opportunity for us, humans to change our behaviour and state of mind. It is an opportunity to change our spirituality. Iranians have a philosophical way of looking at things. The house-cleaning exercise before the arrival of Nowruz is not just limited to cleaning your own house. Iranians believe it is just as essential and just as important to clean your heart and your mind.
