UK lifts sanctions on Syria

Pars Today – The UK has announced that it has lifted sanctions against Syria, thereby supporting investment in financial services, energy production and other sectors to rebuild the country’s financial system.

The British Treasury announced on Friday: "The Ministries of Interior and Defense, and the General Intelligence Directorate of Syria are among the 12 entities that are no longer subject to asset freezes. British Minister of State for West Asia and North Africa Hamish Falconer said in a statement: "The Syrian people deserve an opportunity to rebuild their country and their economy, and a stable Syria is in the national interest of Britain."/ IRNA
