  • Gharibabadi: Unilateral coercive measures directly undermine access to justice

Pars Today - Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, emphasized on Wednesday that unilateral coercive measures not only devastate economies and public health but also directly undermine access to justice, a cornerstone of the international legal order.

Speaking at the conference on “Unilateral Sanctions and Access to Justice at the National, Regional, and International Levels,” Gharibabadi noted that individuals and entities targeted by sanctions are often placed on sanction lists without notice, formal charges, or the opportunity to defend themselves. The senior Iranian diplomat added that these lists are compiled based on vague claims, without any judicial review or access to a fair trial, and even the right to legal representation is denied. /ISNA
