Iran’s FM: We will not abandon uranium enrichment
Pars Today – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has told CNN that the Islamic Republic will not relinquish its right to enrich uranium under any circumstances.
During a weekly press conference in Tehran on Monday, Frederik Pleitgen, a CNN correspondent asked Esmaeil Baghaei: “Donald Trump seems to be very optimistic about nuclear negotiations between his administration and Iran. What is your view on the progress of the talks?”
Baghaei responded: “If the goal is to ensure that Iran’s nuclear program is not used for military purposes, I believe that can easily be achieved. But if the intention is to deprive Iranians of their right to use peaceful nuclear energy, then I believe that would be highly problematic — to the extent that it would jeopardize the entire process.” Baghaei stressed that under no circumstances can Iran forgo its right to use peaceful nuclear energy, including uranium enrichment. / IRNA
