Int'l bodies: Situation of children in Gaza is catastrophic

Pars Today – The World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on Friday issued stark warnings about the dire conditions faced by children in the Gaza Strip.

The WFP reported that over 70,000 children in Gaza are suffering from severe malnutrition, and escalating tensions in the enclave could lead to an almost complete halt in humanitarian operations.

UNICEF also warned of the critical situation, stating that preliminary data indicates more than 40,000 children have been orphaned during the ongoing war—a number that continues to rise at an alarming rate.

According to UN reports, approximately 2.2 million Palestinians living in Gaza are facing serious risks of starvation. (Mehr news agency)
