Haaretz: Israel failed to achieve its goals in war against Iran
Pars Today – A Hebrew-language Zionist media outlet has reported that Israel has failed to achieve its objectives in its military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Haaretz wrote Monday that, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the main goal of the war was to eliminate Iran’s nuclear program, which he described as an existential threat. However, the paper said there is broad consensus — based on assessments by the EU, US and Israeli intelligence agencies — that Iran still possesses uranium enriched up to 60 percent. Only US President Donald Trump seems to disagree with this conclusion.
The second goal of the war, Haaretz added, was the destruction of Iran’s ballistic missile program — another existential threat in Netanyahu’s view. Yet the Islamic Republic still has hundreds of ballistic missiles and launch platforms. Claims that Iran’s missile production capacity had been neutralized were quickly abandoned after the war ended, with a senior Israeli military official admitting there was no credible intelligence to support that claim.
Haaretz concluded that Israel engaged in media deception about the extent of the damage caused by Iran’s attacks. In reality, the Israeli public has lost resolve — which may explain why Trump has repeatedly remarked that “Tel Aviv is tired.”
Previously, a senior Israeli intelligence officer also acknowledged being surprised by the Iranians’ persistence and resilience, and said Iran could rebuild its enrichment facilities if necessary.
