Araghchi: US assault on Iran a betrayal of diplomacy
Pars Today – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has called the US attack on Iran a betrayal of diplomacy and an unprecedented blow to the rule of law, international law, and the non-proliferation regime.
During a meeting on the sidelines of the SCO foreign ministers’ meeting in China with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, Araghchi expressed appreciation for Tashkent’s support for Iran’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in the face of Zionist and US aggression.
He recalled that the Israeli military assault occurred amid Tehran–Washington talks, with US backing and direct participation in the attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.
He said Washington’s actions constituted a betrayal of diplomacy and a major violation of international law and the non-proliferation regime.
For his part, Saidov reiterated Uzbekistan’s condemnation of any violation of Iran’s sovereignty and said that, like many other countries, Tashkent is concerned about the consequences of such aggression and growing instability in the region. He praised Iran for managing to prevent further escalation through prudent conduct.
