UNICEF: Aid distribution in Gaza is horrific
Pars Today – The Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has called for humanitarian workers to be granted access to the Gaza Strip to assist those in need and distribute humanitarian aid.
Catherine Russell, the Executive Director of UNICEF, stated that the methods used by humanitarian institutions in Gaza to deliver aid to Palestinians have created horrific conditions. She emphasized, "When people try to access food from humanitarian centers in Gaza, they are shot at."
In an interview with the American network CBS, Russell added, "Palestinian children in Gaza are facing a devastating famine, which necessitates an immediate cessation of hostilities and the urgent entry of food into the region."
The UNICEF Executive Director noted that children in Gaza have been living without sufficient food for months and lack even the energy to cry.
According to the Executive Director of UNICEF, since the start of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, an average of 28 children have lost their lives daily in the Gaza Strip. / IRNA
