Ankara demands suspension of Tel Aviv\'s UN membership
Pars Today - The Turkish parliament, in an official resolution issued on Friday, accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza and demanded the suspension of the regime's membership in the United Nations and other international institutions until these actions are completely halted.
Numan Kurtulmuş, the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, stated during Friday's emergency session: "This resolution is a very strong document that shows Turkey's official stance to the world." Kurtulmuş added that all heads of parliamentary groups and their deputies had signed the note, and by publishing it in the official gazette, the resolution will attain the status of a Turkish government policy document.
According to this resolution, Israel has, over the past two years, transformed its decades-long policies of occupation, annexation, and violence against Palestinians into a "clear genocide" in Gaza. The document emphasizes that these actions have led to the deaths of nearly 70,000 people, mostly women and children, and injured more than 150,000, in addition to causing widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure in Gaza.
The Turkish parliament's resolution also stated that Israel has deliberately plunged the people of Gaza into poverty and famine—a fact that has also been confirmed in reports by the United Nations and international institutions.
