UNICEF: 56,000 children in Gaza have lost parents
Pars Today – The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reported that 56,000 children in the Gaza Strip have lost one or both of their parents during two years of Israeli military attacks.
According to UNICEF’s latest report, two years of bombardment and war have caused catastrophic destruction across Gaza, leaving over 64,000 children martyred or injured. The statement also warned that 320,000 children under the age of five are at risk of acute malnutrition, underscoring the severe humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave.
UNICEF has welcomed the ceasefire in Gaza, calling it “a source of hope for children who have endured two years of terrible suffering and hardship.”
UNICEF added that it has more than 1,300 trucks ready to deliver tents, food, medicine, and educational supplies to the Gaza Strip, as part of efforts to support children and families affected by the devastating conflict. / IRNA
