Germany’s Deputy Chancellor Lars Klingbeil
Pars Today – Germany’s Deputy Chancellor announced that the government will lift the restrictions on arms exports to Israel that were imposed last August.
Lars Klingbeil, Germany’s Deputy Chancellor, told the ARD news network that the country’s policy shift regarding the lifting of the arms export ban to Israel is due to the Gaza peace plan. Germany had imposed restrictions on supplying weapons to Israel last August in response to the expansion of the Israeli regime’s military operations in Gaza.
Germany is the second-largest supplier of weapons to Israel after the United States. However, in August, Germany suspended arms exports to Israel that could have been used in attacks on the Gaza Strip. This marked the first time Germany ignored military support for its long-time ally. / IRNA
