First Iranian woman joins 8,000-meter club

Pars Today – Afsaneh Hessami-Fard has become the first Iranian woman to join the world’s 8,000-meter club.

On Tuesday, the Iranian Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation announced that Hessami-Fard successfully summited Cho Oyu in Tibet. With this achievement, she completed her project of climbing all 8,000-meter peaks in the world following Azim Ghiyasi-Saz and became the second Iranian overall to enter the 8,000-meter club. Hessami-Fard is the first Iranian female mountaineer to achieve this feat.
