Domestic violence in Germany
Pars Today — German authorities have reported an increase in domestic violence in the country.
Statistics from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) indicate that last year, 266,000 people in Germany were victims of domestic violence. This represents a new record and a 3.8% increase compared to 2023. Officials announced on Friday that domestic violence in Germany reached its highest level in 2024, with crimes against women and girls continuously rising.
In 2024, domestic violence in Germany resulted in 286 deaths, including 191 women and 95 men. Violence within families — between parents, children, or other relatives — has increased even more sharply (7.3%) than spousal violence (1.9%), primarily affecting children aged 6 to 14.
Each year in Germany, more men and boys experience violence, but women remain the majority of domestic violence victims, accounting for approximately 70% of recorded cases./IRNA
