Envoy, parliament speaker weigh plans to elevate Tehran-Baku ties
Iran’s ambassador to Baku and the speaker of the National Assembly of Republic of Azerbaijan explored avenues for closer interaction between the two neighbors in various fields.
According to Tasnim news agency, in a post on his Twitter account, Iranian Ambassador to Baku Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said he held “very good and constructive” talks with Azeri Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova on Tuesday.
The envoy said they reviewed the “premium relations between the friendly neighbors” in various fields at the meeting.
Mousavi also pointed to the negotiations about the promotion of bilateral, regional and international cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan as well as stronger parliamentary diplomacy.
Iran and Azerbaijan have accelerated efforts in recent years to forge closer partnership in various areas.
Azeri President Ilham Aliyev has made several official visits to Tehran over the past few years.
