COVID cases recorded in Iran above 3.16 million

The total number of people infected with the coronavirus in Iran has exceeded 3,167,000.

According to Tasnim News Agency, providing the latest statistics on the coronavirus infection, the Health Ministry’s Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said on Sunday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has surpassed 3,167,740 after the detection of 9,758 new cases since yesterday.

She said the pandemic has claimed 134 lives over the past 24 hours, while the overall coronavirus death toll in Iran stands at 83,845.

More than 2,835,900 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.

Among those undergoing treatment at present, 3,190 are being kept in the Intensive Care Units of medical centers because of critical health conditions, Lari said.

She also said more than 23.3 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 4.42 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 181 million and the death toll has exceeded 3.93 million.
