The Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Qatar have discussed an array of topics ranging from improving relations to the latest developments in the region.

According to the reports, in a telephone conversation Sunday with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Aal-e Thani, who is also the Prime Minister of Qatar, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Tehran and Doha need to work on the enhancement of cordial relations.

Amir-Abdollahian said Qatar plays a positive and constructive role in bilateral and regional relations.

The Qatari minister, for his part, hailed his country's friendly relations with Iran.

The administration of President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi is pursuing a good-neighborliness policy and seeks to cement ties with the nations in the region.

During the president’s visit to Doha in February 2022, Iran and Qatar inked 14 major economic cooperation agreements, including a deal on cancelling visa requirements for passengers travelling between the two countries.

The deals will cover close cooperation between Iran and Qatar in various fields of economy, including in trade, shipping, aviation and electricity.
