Iran weightlifters finish second in Asian Youth & Junior Championships

Iran’s national youth weightlifting team have ranked second at the 2023 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in India.

The young Iranian weightlifters collected three gold, eleven silver and seven bronze medals with 708 points at the end of the contests at Gautam Buddha University in the Indian capital city of New Delhi. 

They stood behind their Uzbek counterparts with 729 points. The Indians secured third place, having racked up 599 points.

Female Iranian junior weightlifters earn third place

The Iranian women’s national junior weightlifting team also finished third at the Asian championships.

The female Iranian athletes bagged three gold, four silver and four bronze medals with 488 points.

India stood in first place with 690 points, while Uzbekistan landed in the second slot with 688 points.

Separately, the Iranian women’s national youth weightlifting team claimed the fourth spot after winning two gold, four silver and three bronze medals and notching up 531 team points.

The 2023 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships kicked off in New Delhi, India, on July 28 and concluded on August 5.
