Iranian diver wins 3 golds in 2023 World Aquatics Masters Championships
Iranian diver Ghaem Mirabian displayed impressive performances at the 2023 World Aquatics Masters Championships in Japan and bagged three gold medals at the prestigious international tournament.
Mirabian competed in the 40-44 age bracket of the men’s 3-meter springboard diving competitions in Fukuoka city, which sits on the northern shore of Japan’s Kyushu Island and finished first with 401.95 points.
German contestant Markus Albrecht won the silver with 284.45, while the bronze medal went to Canadian diver Jonathan Asselin.
Mirabian also participated in the men’s 1-meter springboard contests, attended by 14 divers. He managed to claim the top spot on the podium with 343.40 points and clinched another gold.
He also vied for a medal in the men’s platform diving competitions and earned 250.80 points to be awarded his third gold medal. A total of seven divers competed in the division.
The 2023 World Aquatics Masters Championships, which is the 19th edition of the tournament, started on August 2 and will run through August 11.
The 10-day championships are being held across the three cities of Fukuoka, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima.
Hundreds of athletes from 100 countries are reportedly competing in five disciplines of swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming, and open-water swimming.
