Iran, Qatar ink joint economic cooperation document to bolster bilateral ties
Officials from Iran and Qatar signed a cooperation document to strengthen mutual ties in various fields including trade, economy, industry and energy.
According to Tasnim news agency, at the closing ceremony of the 9th Iran-Qatar Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, the economic cooperation document was inked between Iran’s Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian and Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Qassim Al-Abdullah Al-Thani.
The two sides emphasized strengthening cooperation in the field of energy (water and sewage, electricity, oil, gas and environment) and the exchange of experiences and technical know-how, holding events such as exhibitions, specialized training courses in the field of water and wastewater technologies, solar and renewable energy, cooperation of the private sectors of the two countries in the fields of consulting and contracting, and manufacturing equipment related to the electricity industry of the two countries, etc.
In addition, the two countries vowed to enhance trade and industrial cooperation in banking, insurance and customs interaction, technical and engineering services, free zones, and investment.
In the social and cultural fields, the two countries expressed their readiness to hold a meeting of the technical committee of the tourism cooperation, expansion of cooperation between medical sciences universities and exchange of students and university lecturers, and cooperation in the field of medicines and halal foods in the region.
