Pars Today - Iran's Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, in a meeting with his Russian counterpart, described Iran-Russia relations as very strong and Moscow as Iran's main and strategic partner.

According to Pars Today, quoting the IRIB News Agency, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, met today, Friday, with Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister, in Moscow. While thanking his Russian counterpart for the warm hospitality, he said: Yesterday, I had a very good and lengthy meeting with Vladimir Putin and delivered a written message from the Leader of the Islamic Revolution to him. This message was both to Putin and to the entire world that Iran considers Russia its main and strategic partner and consults with it on important issues.

Araghchi added: Iran-Russia relations have perhaps never been this close and strong in their history. Recently, we signed a comprehensive strategic agreement that will expand the dimensions of Iran-Russia relations to much higher levels.

Iran's Foreign Minister also described the talks with the Russian President and Foreign Minister as constructive during a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart and emphasized: Future developments will not affect Tehran-Moscow relations.

He stated that economic cooperation between Iran and Russia is flourishing regardless of sanctions.

Araghchi also commented on the indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, saying: Although we have serious doubts about the motives of the American side, if they do not present impractical demands, there is a possibility for an agreement.

Lavrov also emphasized at this press conference that Russia supports the indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States and that Iran's legitimate interests regarding the nuclear program must be taken into account.
