UN appreciates Iran's services to refugees despite US sanctions

Pars Today - The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees appreciated the services the Islamic Republic of Iran has provided to refugees in the fields of health, education, and employment.
During a meeting with Iran's Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education, Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, praised the commendable services of the Islamic Republic of Iran to refugees in various fields, including healthcare, education, and employment and stated: Iran's valuable services are highly appreciated despite the sanctions and some economic difficulties.
According to Pars Today, Iran's Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education also emphasized during the meeting: Maintaining the health of refugees is an international responsibility that shouldn't solely fall on the host country.
Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi added: Appropriate financial and operational methods should be designed and strengthened globally for countries hosting refugees, especially Iran.
According to the report, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi is expected to visit Tehran in the near future.
Iran is one of the world's leading hosts of refugees and, despite US sanctions and economic challenges, provides them with extensive services.
UN officials have repeatedly praised the Islamic Republic of Iran's services to refugees, emphasizing that Iran has opened its schools, universities, hospitals, and borders to refugees; as a result, these individuals enjoy all the benefits just like the people of Iran.
Iran's Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education is currently in Geneva to attend the 78th World Health Assembly.
The 78th annual World Health Assembly, themed "A World for Health" is currently underway in Geneva. A high-level delegation from Iran's health system, led by the Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education, is attending the assembly from May 19th to May 27th, 2025.
During this meeting, priority global health issues will be raised and reviewed by member states in the form of documents, and member countries will express their opinions on each document.
