Iran’s Greco-Roman wrestling team crowned world champions
Pars Today – Iran’s national U17 Greco-Roman wrestling team stood atop the podium at the World Championships.
According to Pars Today, on Wednesday, the Iranian youth Greco-Roman team defended its world title in the U17 Championships held in Athens, Greece, with a squad of only nine wrestlers. The team secured 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
Amirsam Mohammadi won gold in the 92 kg category, Yazdan Delrouz claimed silver in the 110 kg class, and Amir Mohammad Hajivand (48 kg), Amir Reza Tahmasbpour (55 kg), Abolfazl Zare’ (60 kg), and Mohammad Kazemi (71 kg) each earned bronze medals.
In the team rankings, Iran became the champion with 125 points. Uzbekistan ranked second with 118 points, and Kazakhstan came in third with 113 points.
Iran’s national youth volleyball team defeats Belgium
In other news, Iran’s U19 boys’ volleyball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Championship after a 3–1 victory over Belgium on Wednesday.
In the first set, Iran won 25–19. The second set ended 25–17 in favor of Belgium. However, in the following two sets, Iran prevailed with scores of 25–19 and 25–20, respectively.
Iran will face Finland in the quarterfinal match on Friday.
