Pars Today – Iran’s Foreign Minister and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency signed an agreement to resume cooperation between Iran and the Agency.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, who arrived in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, on Tuesday morning, first held a trilateral meeting with Egypt’s Foreign Minister and Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), followed by a two-hour closed-door meeting with Grossi. Afterwards, he went to the Ittihadiya Palace for talks with Egypt’s President.

According to Pars Today, quoting IRIB News Agency, Araghchi and Grossi, in the presence of Egypt’s Badr Abdelatty, signed the agreement on the resumption of cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Iran’s legitimate peaceful nuclear rights have been guaranteed

In a joint press conference with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, referring to the course of negotiations between Iran and the Agency, said:

“Today, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency and I held the final round of talks to conclude an understanding on how to implement Iran’s safeguards commitments in light of the developments resulting from unlawful actions against Iran’s nuclear facilities, and we succeeded in finalizing it.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister added: “The practical steps agreed upon for the implementation of safeguards are fully consistent with the law passed by the Iranian Parliament; they address Iran’s concerns and establish a framework for continued cooperation. What we have done, while guaranteeing our legitimate right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy, also maintains cooperation with the Agency within an agreed framework.”

This agreement establishes a practical mechanism for cooperation that reflects both Iran’s exceptional security conditions and the technical requirements of the Agency. Araghchi also added: “We strongly condemn the terrorist and aggressive act of the Zionist regime in Qatar and express our full solidarity with the Palestinian people as well as with the government of Qatar, whose sovereignty and territorial integrity have been openly violated by the Israeli regime.”

Grossi: Iran-IAEA agreement is a step in the right direction

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, following the agreement with Iran to resume technical inspections, said: “This is a step in the right direction that opens the door to diplomacy and stability.”

Cooperation between Iran and the Agency had been suspended following illegal attacks by the U.S. and the Zionist regime against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.
