Iran shipping among top 20 global firms
Pars Today – The CEO of Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines announced that the company has maintained its position among the world’s top 20 container shipping firms over the past decade.
Mohammad Reza Modarres-Khiabani, CEO of Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL), stated that the company ranks 17th among the world’s largest container shipping firms while retaining its top position in the country and region.
According to Pars Today, Modarres-Khiabani added that the company, which has been among the world’s top 20 container shipping firms for nearly a decade, has also retained its number-one position in the country and the region’s maritime transport sector.
The CEO of IRISL said that despite sanctions and restrictions, the company’s shipping operations remain strong, with statistics showing growth in its activities.
Modarres-Khiabani highlighted that nearly 4,000 Iranian mariners now work for IRISL, noting that in previous years, hundreds of foreign sailors were employed in Iran’s fleet, but thanks to the efforts of the Iranian Shipping Training Institute, the workforce is now entirely Iranian.
Iran shipping stresses development of north-south corridor
The CEO of IRISL highlighted the importance of completing the Zahedan-Chabahar railway in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, southeastern Iran, saying the company is fully prepared to expand cargo transport along this route.
He emphasized the pivotal role of shipping in supporting Iran’s economy, assuring that despite all imposed restrictions, the company’s staff are committed to preventing any disruption to the country’s economic activities.
