Pars Today – The Vice Speaker of Iran’s Parliament said that any ceasefire or temporary agreement in the Gaza war must not lead to forgetting the pursuit of justice and the prosecution of war criminals.
Hamid Reza Haji Babaei, Vice Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, emphasized at the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting in Geneva, focused on the Gaza war, that the international community is responsible for identifying and prosecuting those who order and carry out the killing of civilians in Gaza.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Haji Babaei noted that the direct support of the U.S. and some Western governments for the Israeli regime poses a threat to international order and undermines the credibility of global institutions.
The Iranian parliamentarian added that the occupying regime, through decades of impunity, has not only perpetuated human tragedies but also weakened the role of the UN Security Council in maintaining global peace.
He described the Gaza war as a profound test for human conscience and emphasized the importance of Islamic unity, parliamentary solidarity, and the restoration of global justice to achieve a lasting and honorable peace in Palestine.
Haji Babaei also stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports all efforts aimed at an immediate end to the war, the delivery of humanitarian aid, the withdrawal of occupying forces, the release of Palestinian prisoners, and the restoration of the Palestinian people’s rights. He emphasized that Iran will utilize its diplomatic capacities to exert pressure on the Israeli regime and its supporters.
The 151st session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), focusing on “Upholding Humanitarian Norms and Supporting Humanitarian Actions in Times of Crisis” and “Inclusive Democracy for a Sustainable World,” opened on Sunday in Geneva with the participation of the Iranian parliamentary delegation.
