Pars Today – The trade volume between Iran and Russia is expected to increase to $10 billion as part of the expansion of strategic cooperation between the two sides.

According to Pars Today, citing Fars News Agency, Ali Mohammad Mousavi, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Petroleum for International Affairs, made the announcement on the sidelines of the 19th meeting of the Iran–Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission held in Tehran with the participation of the energy ministers of both countries.

He stated that the economic cooperation potential between Tehran and Moscow is far beyond the current level and should be further expanded.

Mousavi also noted the upward trend in bilateral trade, estimating the current trade volume at around $6 billion and outlining plans to raise it to $10 billion.

The Deputy Minister of Petroleum for International Affairs, Ali Mohammad Mousavi, emphasized the extensive energy cooperation potential between Iran and Russia.

He said the main areas of cooperation between the two countries include the development of oil fields and the possible export of Russian gas to Iran. Mousavi added that technical collaboration, joint investment, and technology exchange could play an important role in achieving the target of increasing bilateral trade.

The 19th meeting of the Iran–Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission was held to deepen economic, energy, transportation, and banking ties. Officials from both sides stressed the importance of utilizing complementary economic capacities.

In recent years, the development of transit corridors, cooperation in oil and gas sectors, and the expansion of trade using national currencies have been among the main pillars of economic relations between Tehran and Moscow.
