Qalibaf: Only those prepared for war can negotiate with United States
Pars Today — The speaker of Iran’s parliament, during a meeting with the speaker of Indonesia’s People’s Consultative Assembly, said that Iran regards the Indonesian people as a nation at the forefront of anti-imperialist sentiment and the struggle against Israel.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, speaker of the Iranian Parliament, said during his meeting on Friday afternoon with Ahmad Muzani, speaker of Indonesia’s People’s Consultative Assembly:
“We have never sought war, but the teachings of the Quran oblige us to resist and not surrender to oppression. For this reason, the Iranian nation will never submit to injustice.”
Stressing that the strength of the Islamic Revolution stems from principles rooted in the Quran, he added that the United States, Israel, and NATO had believed before the recent conflict that they could force Iran into submission within just a few days. However, they soon realized that they would not achieve their objectives, and the world witnessed their failure to do so.
The Iranian parliament speaker further argued that the Iranian people had undermined America’s perceived power during the recent war, adding that the economic, political, and media pressures faced by the United States and Israel had left them in a difficult position and prompted Washington to seek a ceasefire.
Expressing distrust toward the United States, Qalibaf said:
“During the negotiations, I made it clear to the vice president of the United States that we have absolutely no trust in you. In my view, only those who are prepared for war are capable of negotiating with America.”
He added: “For this reason, we have never abandoned our preparedness to defend our country. Whenever the Americans betray the agreement, we are fully prepared to defend ourselves, stand firmly against them, and secure the rights of the Iranian nation.”
Referring to the economic pressures on the United States resulting from the recent war and the country’s domestic political challenges, Qalibaf said:
“They have experienced Iran’s strength and military readiness firsthand, and they know that we will not let go of America’s collar.”
At the same time, he stressed that although ending the war is a priority for countries around the world, everyone should understand that the conflict will never end with Iran’s surrender.
Qalibaf further stated that Muslim nations and governments must recognize the need to stand up to the United States and Israel, adding that the experience of the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown that success can be achieved along this path.
The speaker of Iran’s parliament also emphasized the importance of expanding economic and political ties and strengthening cultural cooperation between Iran and Indonesia. He called for closer relations between the two countries, particularly at the parliamentary level, in order to facilitate broader bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Ahmad Muzani, speaker of Indonesia’s People’s Consultative Assembly, welcomed efforts to end the conflict between Iran and the United States and said:
“We believe that the noble people of Iran seek the establishment of peace, and I think that your efforts can contribute to achieving it.”
