Pars Today – Production of Iran’s handwoven carpets during the first 10 months of the current year reached 2.43 million square meters, generating more than 30 million dollars in export revenue for Iran.

According to Tasnim News Agency, Zahra Kamani, head of the Iran National Carpet Center, announced that about 2.5 million square meters of handwoven carpets were produced in the first 10 months of the Iranian year 1404.

Exports from this sector generated more than 30 million dollars in revenue for Iran.

Kamani said that Iran’s handwoven carpet exports since the beginning of the year exceeded 30 million dollars, reaching 61 countries with a total weight of 1,737 tons. The top five importers of Iranian handwoven carpets during this period were United Arab Emirates, Germany, Japan, China, and South Africa.

Kamani also noted that, thanks to Iranian producers, 2.43 million square meters of handwoven carpets were manufactured across the country during the same 10-month period.

Strengthening position of Iranian carpets in global markets

Kamani also announced the holding of the 32nd International Handwoven Carpet Exhibition at the permanent exhibition venue in Tehran International Exhibition Center.

She said this year’s exhibition, supported by the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, offers a 50 percent discount on booth fees for handwoven carpet producers to create better opportunities for strengthening production and export of this strategic product.

Kamani emphasized that the exhibition aims to support the revival and further development of Iran’s traditional art and industry by providing a platform to expand production and promote exports of handwoven carpets.
