Baqaei: Issue of transferring uranium not on table

Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry
Pars Today – The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that although Americans have referred to transferring uranium to the United States, this has never been raised as an option by Iran in negotiations.
According to Pars Today, Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, speaking about enriched uranium and the possibility of transferring it abroad, said: Just as the lives of Iranians are valuable and sacred to us, everything that is considered an asset of Iran is valuable to us, and we must strive to safeguard it. The nuclear issue and the science and knowledge that form the basis of Iran’s nuclear achievements are examples of the efforts of Iranians to reach scientific peaks. Protecting our achievements—whether in the nuclear field or in science and industry—is certainly important for us, and we will do whatever is necessary to preserve them.
He continued: One of the main targets of the enemy during this period has been our universities and industrial centers, and this shows that the enemy has a problem with the welfare and progress of the Iranian people. At no time—neither in this round of negotiations nor in the past—has the issue of transferring uranium to the United States been raised as an option by us.
Regarding optimism about the negotiations, Baqaei added: We are certainly not optimistic; we are realistic. The experiences of the past 60 years have made us strongly realistic, to the point of singular pessimism regarding U.S. approaches. Distrust of the enemy is the essence of wisdom.
