Pars Today – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that traveling to Islamabad must serve Iran’s interests, and that no final decision has yet been made regarding going to Islamabad.
According to Pars Today, Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an interview with IRIB explained the latest decisions regarding Iran’s possible participation in negotiations in Islamabad with the U.S. side. He said: “Going to Islamabad must serve our interests. No final decision has been made so far about going to Islamabad.”
He added: “The reason for the lack of a decision is that we have faced contradictory and non‑diplomatic actions from the other side. From the very beginning we were confronted with violations of the ceasefire by the opposing side, one example of which is the naval blockade.”
Baqaei noted: “Despite Iran’s adherence to the understandings, the other side spoke of continuing the naval blockade, which is a clear violation of the agreement. Under international law, a naval blockade is considered an act of aggression. Iran has shown that it acts responsibly regarding its commitments; just as after the United States withdrew from the JCPOA, Iran remained fully committed for one year.”
He emphasized: “Whenever the Islamic Republic of Iran determines that the diplomatic path will secure national interests, it will pursue it. Diplomacy must be result‑oriented, and decisions are made based on the country’s interests. America’s diplomatic claims are not consistent with its actions on the ground.”
