Pars Today – Iranian paddlers won another silver and bronze medal during the afternoon session of the third day of the Asian U23, Junior, and Paracanoe Championships in Kazakhstan.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, the third day of the Asian U23, Junior, and Paracanoe Canoe Sprint Championships continued on Saturday afternoon in Turkistan, Kazakhstan, with Iranian athletes competing in several events.
In the women's U23 K2 500-meter final, Iran's Tarannom Akbarzadeh and Maryam Aghaei competed against crews from India, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei, and Vietnam. The Iranian duo finished second with a time of 2:03.583, earning the silver medal. Kazakhstan claimed gold, while Vietnam took bronze.
In the men's U23 K2 500-meter final, Abbas Hosseini and Amirreza Barzegar raced against competitors from Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Singapore, India, and Uzbekistan. The Iranian pair secured the bronze medal with a time of 1:44.018. Kazakhstan won the gold medal, while Uzbekistan finished second.
With these results, Iran's medal tally at the end of the third day of competition rose to 18 medals.
The championships will conclude on Sunday, June 7, with Iranian representatives competing in three remaining events in Turkistan, Kazakhstan.
