Pars Today – Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations, at a Security Council meeting, has condemned the "horrific crime" at the Minab school in southern Iran and called for full accountability of all perpetrators, planners, and commanders.

According to a Pars Today report citing IRIB News Agency, Amir Saeed Iravani, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, spoke on Wednesday at the annual UN Security Council session on "Children and Armed Conflict," held to review the Secretary-General's 2025 report. He stated that the Secretary-General's report had not adequately reflected the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of the 12-day aggressive war launched by the Israeli regime against Iran in June 2025, particularly its impact on children — noting that during this (12-day) aggression, 47 Iranian children were martyred.

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN emphasized: "We cannot discuss the protection of children without addressing one of the greatest war crimes committed against Iranian children by the United States and the Israeli regime."

Iravani stated: "The United States and the Israeli regime, during their recent aggressive actions against Iran, deliberately targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure. During this aggression, numerous schools and other educational institutions, along with other civilian targets, were struck, destroyed, or severely damaged. In these attacks, 220 children, including 17 children under the age of five, were martyred."

He said: "The most horrific crime occurred at the Minab elementary school in Hormozgan Province. During school hours, when 264 students were present in classrooms, the school was struck twice by US missiles. This attack resulted in the martyrdom of 168 male and female students aged 7 to 12, as well as teachers and parents, and wounded more than 96 others. Many of the victims remained trapped under the rubble for hours, and several bodies were so severely mutilated that they could not be identified."

Iravani said: "Iran unequivocally condemns these heinous war crimes and demands full accountability for all perpetrators, planners, and commanders."

He stressed: "The memory of the Minab children demands justice, accountability, and action — not silence. The protection of children must not be selective. International law must be applied equally to all."
