Pars Today – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Tehran and New Delhi enjoy significant potential for expanding cooperation, emphasizing the need to strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties, particularly within the framework of BRICS.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News, President Pezeshkian spoke by phone with Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday afternoon, expressing satisfaction with the successful planning and organization of the BRICS Energy Ministers' Meeting hosted by India.
He also expressed hope that cooperation and engagement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and India, particularly within multilateral mechanisms such as BRICS, will continue to expand.
Pezeshkian reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran's commitment to expanding and deepening its relations with India, saying that ties between the two countries are built on a long-standing historical relationship and mutual respect. He noted that there is considerable potential to enhance cooperation across a wide range of fields, including politics, the economy, trade, transit, and international affairs.
He stressed that greater coordination and effective use of existing capacities are essential to identifying and implementing new avenues for expanding bilateral relations.
Referring to the convergence of views between Tehran and New Delhi on many regional and international issues, particularly within multilateral organizations and forums, Pezeshkian said this alignment can provide a solid foundation for strengthening strategic cooperation and broadening comprehensive ties between the two countries.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the telephone conversation, reaffirmed his country's support for any initiative aimed at promoting peace and stability in the West Asia region.
He said India believes that peace and security in the region are essential not only for the countries of West Asia but also for global stability and security, adding that all nations should spare no effort to achieve this objective.
Modi also referred to the support and cooperation among BRICS members in advancing the organization's agenda and expressed satisfaction with the progress made within the bloc. He extended a formal invitation to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to attend the upcoming BRICS Leaders' Summit, which will be hosted by India, expressing hope that the meeting would help further strengthen multilateral cooperation among member states.
