Iran and Oman FM meet to discuss regional developments, Islamabad MoU
Pars Today – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, leading a political and legal delegation, arrived in Muscat on Saturday and was officially welcomed by Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi at the Omani Foreign Ministry.
According to Pars Today, citing the IRIB News Agency, during the meeting, Iran’s foreign minister expressed appreciation for Oman’s message of condolence and for the participation of the Omani Parliament Speaker in the ceremony honoring the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He also emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Tehran and Muscat.
Oman’s foreign minister, referring to his country’s principled position of using diplomacy to prevent escalation of tensions in the region, expressed hope that the full implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States would lead to an improvement in regional security conditions.
During the talks, the two foreign ministers discussed bilateral relations in various fields as well as regional developments, particularly the issue of the Strait of Hormuz. They also exchanged views on appropriate mechanisms for the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, in accordance with Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
