Pars Today – The deputy speaker of Iran’s parliament said US President Donald Trump’s threats, considering his defeat in the recent war against Iran, are a sign of Washington’s desperation.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Hamidreza Hajibabaei, deputy speaker of Iran’s parliament, described Trump’s threats, considering his defeat in the recent war against Iran, as a sign of US desperation.

“A country that claims to be powerful and capable of taking action has no need to issue threats. However, the United States, which has failed in its war against the Islamic Republic of Iran, continues to make threats,” he said.

Hajibabaei described US strategies as having failed, adding that Washington had expected its allies to join it in the imposed war against Iran, but they refused to support Trump’s actions. This, he said, shows that the United States has been left isolated in its regional actions and is facing difficulties.

He said US isolation, coupled with the resistance front’s steadfastness, ultimately led to the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq, adding that US troops would certainly be expelled from other countries in the region as well.

Hajibabaei stressed that, following the defeat it had suffered at Iran’s hands over the past year, Trump had effectively resorted to “talk therapy” in the face of the Islamic Republic’s power in an attempt to conceal the defeat inflicted on him by Iran’s armed forces and people.

He also stressed that regional countries must understand that there is no alternative to resisting foreign adversaries and fostering solidarity among countries in the region. The United States, he said, had demonstrated in recent wars that it could not ensure the security of regional countries and was not a suitable option for providing their security.

The deputy speaker said the United States was solely seeking to protect its own citizens and accumulate wealth by seizing the oil resources of regional countries.

“In other words, the United States not only does nothing to help the region, but also undermines its security,” he said, adding that the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq heralded brighter days for countries across the region.
