French Finance Minister, Michel Sapin, underlined that his country has remained committed to the implementation of the nuclear agreement reached between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries (the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany) also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

"France as a member of the European Union (EU) and also as part of the July 2015 nuclear deal has endeavored to make the JCPOA succeed," Sapin said in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran on Saturday.

The French finance minister, meantime, pointed to the status quo of Iran-France relations, and said, "Paris and Tehran have been so successful in their economic relations."

Sapin reiterated that the French officials and companies are willing to make use of the opportunities created after the nuclear deal.

"Many of the economic projects between the two countries have been implemented," the French finance minister said while expressing satisfaction over the process of implementation of the bilateral agreements.

France along with the EU makes effort to cooperate with Iran, he concluded.

The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, said that Tehran is after expanding relations with Paris.

"Iran sees France as an important political and economic partner," Zarif added.

The Iranian foreign minister pointed to President Hassan Rouhani's recent visit to France and the subsequent visit of the French foreign minister to Iran which was followed by holding the joint economic commission, and said, "Iran is seeking expansion of ties with France."

He said that holding Tehran-Paris joint economic commission was an indication of the two countries’ determination to expand all-out bilateral cooperation.
