Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Brigadier General Hossein Salami in a meeting with Chief of the General Staff of the Pakistani Army Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar underlined the IRGC's willingness to transfer its anti-terrorism experiences to Islamabad.
"Today, fighting Takfiri terrorism and security threats are both countries' priorities and the IRGC is ready to transfer its experiences in this regard to strengthen the Pakistani army and nation and obviate the existing concerns in this regard by developing and deepening defense and security cooperation," General Salami said during the meeting in Tehran on Saturday.
Elsewhere, he lauded Pakistan for not allying with the Saudi-led coalition in its devastating war on Yemen.
General Akbar, for his part, underscored the necessity for both countries' efforts to increase the relevant capacities to establish regional peace and enhance border security, and said, "We face common threats at the borders and precise and serious cooperation is on the agenda of the Pakistani and Iranian defense, military and security forces to protect the two countries' interests and resources."
The meeting was held after the IRGC Ground Force engaged in clashes with a terrorist team in the Southeastern province of Sistan-e Balouchestan (near Pakistani borders) earlier this week, killing and wounding several terrorists.
