  • Envoy rejects reports on Iran-US secret talks in London

Iran's Ambassador to London Hamid Ba’eidinejad vehemently dismissed recent media reports that the Iranian and US diplomats have held a secret meeting in the British capital ahead of Yemen’s peace talks in Sweden.

According to Press TV, Ba’eidinejad said on his Twitter account on Saturday “A number of media outlets, quoting the (Arabic-language) Kuwaiti daily newspaper, have claimed that some Iranian and American diplomats have secretly met in London and that the Yemeni negotiations in Sweden have been the result of these meetings.”

These reports are “a sheer falsehood” and completely rejected, the diplomat added in his tweet.

In comments in August, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei roundly dismissed the idea of negotiations with the US, saying dialogue with a bullying regime that uses talks as a tool for pursuing its hostile policies is forbidden and would be detrimental to Iran.
