  • Iran, a global transit hub; 7.6 million tons of goods transited through Iran in four months

Pars Today - Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Customs Administration announced that foreign transit through Iran's route has increased by 58.5% in the past four months, reaching 7.622 million tons.

Iran has a strategic and geopolitical position in global goods transportation and transit, earning it the title of global transit crossroads in some media outlets. Security, short routes, and cost-effectiveness are among Iran's advantages in transit. 

According to Pars Today, Mohammad Rezvanifar, Head of Iran's Customs Administration, stated that foreign transit through Iran's route has increased by 58.5% in the past four months, reaching 7.622 million tons. 

He added that the Piranshahr customs in West Azarbaijan province has had the highest growth rate among Iran's transit customs, with a 661% increase in the past four months compared to the same period last year.

He further said that after Piranshahr customs, the highest increase in foreign transit was from Sarakhs, Parvizkhan, and Bashmaq customs, with increases of 286%, 197%, and 111%, respectively.

Rezvanifar mentioned that the highest volume of foreign transit was from Parvizkhan customs in Kermanshah province, with 2.166 million tons of goods transited through this customs in the past four months. Shahid Rajaei Special Economic Zone, Bashmaq, Bazargan, and Piranshahr customs ranked next.

In this regard, Seyyed Mi’ad Salehi, CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, also stated at the launch ceremony of the Iran-China container train that Iran acts as a fast and secure gateway for transporting Chinese products to the European Union.

It is worth noting that the Iran-China container train was launched on Sunday in a ceremony held at the Tehran dry port railway (Aprin logistics center), marking the operational launch of the first phase of the China-Iran-Europe rail corridor.
