Political expert: Hamas's response to Trump was smart strategic move

Pars Today – A regional affairs expert stated that Hamas presented the best scenario in its response to the Trump ceasefire proposal, one that preserves Palestinian dignity and puts Trump in a difficult position.

Amjad Bashkar, Professor of Political Science and International Relations, told the Shahab News Agency that the Hamas movement has presented the best possible scenario and political solution under the current circumstances, following extensive consultations with Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia.

According to a Pars Today report citing Mehr News Agency, Amjad Bashkar added: "Hamas acted with significant political intelligence and managed to seize the initiative from the U.S. government, which sought to force the Resistance and the Palestinian people into surrender."

Bashkar stated that the Hamas statement was a "smart political gambit" that leveraged Trump's desire to achieve a result on the issue of Zionist prisoners while not compromising its own principles.

The political analyst added that this agreement will be implemented in stages, and Hamas, through the participation of the Liberation Movement, Fatah, and the Palestinian Authority, has maintained Palestinian representative unity.

This regional affairs expert added that, contrary to the [Trump] plan, the Resistance will not be disarmed, as it is considered a legitimate defensive weapon under international law.

He noted that what Hamas has proposed is an advanced political solution that preserves the dignity of the Palestinians, places the U.S. government in a difficult position, and restores the right of self-determination to the Palestinian people.
