An airstrike by Saudi fighter jets meant to target Yemeni forces in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern border region of Jizan has claimed the lives of at least ten Saudi troopers instead.

A military source said anonymously that Saudi warplanes pounded the al-Malhamah base in the al-Khobe areas of Jizan, located 967 kilometers southwest of Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, which resulted in the casualties among Saudi forces, al-Masirah reported.

The source added that at least 15 Saudi soldiers were also injured.

Also on Tuesday, two farmers suffered injuries when Saudi jets struck the Sahar district in Yemen’s mountainous Northwestern Province of Sa’ada.

Saudi warplanes also carried out a raft of airstrikes against the Kahlan military base and the Razih district in the same Yemeni province. There were no immediate reports of casualties and damage available.

Additionally, Saudi jets attacked the Political Security Office in the Red Sea port city of Hudaydah, located 150 kilometers southwest of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a.

Yemen has been under Saudi military strikes since late March 2015. The war was launched in a bid to reinstate Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who has stepped down as Yemen’s president but is now seeking to grab power by force.

The United Nations puts the martyrdom toll from the military aggression at about 10,000.
