The terrorist group of Ahrar Al-Sham sacks top commander in Syria
Top commander of Ahrar al-Sham Abu Amar al-Omar was dismissed by the terrorist group's Council after the terrorist group sustained repeated defeats in battle with rival militants.
The Arabic-language al-Hadath news reported that head of Ahrar al-Sham's Supreme Council has dismissed the terrorist group's top commander due to the recent defeats of the terrorist group in battle with Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay'at or the Levant Liberation Board).
Head of the Supreme Council, in a statement, appointed on Wednesday Hassan Soufan nom de guerre Abu al-Bara'a as the new top commander of Ahrar al-Sham.
Hassan Soufan is originally from Lattakia Province and up until last year he was serving out a very long sentence in Sidnaiyah Prison for anti-government activities.
He was released after fifteen years in late December 2016 as part of a prisoner swap deal between the Syrian government and various Idlib-based militant groups.
Media sources said on Monday that a number of militants defected Ahrar al-Sham terrorist group and joined Faylaq al-Rahman in Eastern Ghouta.
