  • Israel airstrike hits Syrian army position in occupied Golan Heights

An Israeli military aircraft has targeted a Syrian army position in the Golan Heights after a projectile allegedly fired from Syria landed in the occupied territory.

An unnamed commander of Syria’s pro-government popular defense groups said the aerial attack struck a hill in Khan Arnabeh village of the country's strategic southwestern region of Quneitra near the border with occupied Palestinian territories on Friday but did not cause any casualties.

Earlier, the Israeli army announced in a statement that an errant projectile had landed adjacent to and east of the fence between occupied Palestinian territories and Syria, noting that the round was a result of fighting between Syrian army forces and militant groups in the area.

During the past few years, Israel has frequently attacked military targets in Syria in what is considered as an attempt to prop up terrorist groups that have been suffering heavy defeats against Syrian government forces.

Damascus says that the illegal Zionist entity and its Western and regional allies are aiding Takfiri terrorist groups operating inside the Arab country, while the Tel Aviv regime's military carries out such sporadic strikes against Syrian government forces. The Israeli regime has even set up field hospitals to treat wounded militants evacuated from Syria.

Moreover, the Syrian army has repeatedly seized huge quantities of Israeli-made weapons and advanced military equipment from the foreign-backed militants inside Syria.
