Russian emergency service workers arrived in the Lugansk People's Republic village of Yurievka on Friday to provide assistance following an explosion at the Skhidkarbon mine on Thursday, which resulted in the deaths of three people and left 14 missing.

Earlier, leader of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic Leonid Pasechnik said that the Russian emergency services would bring specialist equipment that is unavailable in the republic.

According to local officials, the blast occurred 150 meters below the ground. The explosion is believed to have been caused by a build-up of methane.
