Oppenheimer aims to say that inventing and creating atomic bomb was for establishing order before you misinterpret it as a threat from the arsenals of America! Oppenheimer is actually a representative of the idea of "civilization against barbarism".

J. Robert Oppenheimer, known as the "father of the atomic bomb," had a film written and directed by Christopher Nolan, titled "Oppenheimer," based on his life. This film premiered in 2023 and at the Oscars in 2024, while being nominated in 13 categories, it managed to win 7 Oscars.

Nolan and the American history narrative in the film Oppenheimer

Nolan has included everything he wanted at the beginning of the film and has tried to further elaborate on it when the movie continues.

The pages of history are filled with America's crimes against people of other countries, which have arisen due to some scientific advancements. Essentially, America believes in power and also sees restraint in this matter. However, this film also clearly demonstrates that science is in the service of producing power for America.

When you look at the story of Oppenheimer from a higher perspective, you can clearly see the conflict between American society, but what is the nature of this conflict? A politician and a scientist fundamentally disagree with each other; Nolan portrays a society where politicians drop bombs and scientists make bombs! The days of suffering and regret of the American scientist and the political maneuvering of politicians to explain America's strategy for managing the world is an "inhuman act" for victory, and this is a bitter but real strategy.

The movie tries to show that if politicians misuse their position for power, it is bad, but no one should have suspicions about the nature of the atomic bomb and its creators because this bomb saved soldiers' lives at that time and prevented further war! In their view, scientists have an important duty, the duty of invention, and of course, no one asks how you calculate the value of human lives? Or why no one apologizes for this tragedy after years? In their view, there are always 'wild' elements in the world that must accept the new order, but since they do not accept it, we have put them in their place! This work repeatedly emphasizes that you should also recognize this new order; this new order is calculative, not ethical or humane.

Oppenheimer is not here to entertain you, although it has been very successful in this regard. The film is so complex that it is a twisty story for an outsider, an engaging story, but Nolan succeeds in taking you through a thousand twists and turns, introducing multiple conflicts, breaking an order, and creating a new order.

Ultimately, the film Oppenheimer wants to say in response to all the criticisms of the global community about American bombs: "We have no choice!" For them, there is always an external threat that a self-made America is forced to fight against.

In the movie, Oppenheimer addresses the President of the United States saying, "I feel my hands are stained with blood," as an emphasis on that calculating mind that wants to save the world and establish peace. And you are faced with this response that the atomic bomb was a scientific tool, and the President of the United States dropped it on Japan in a real war, and no one is upset or worried about this issue.

Even when the Germans are defeated on the war front, this process does not stop until the atomic bomb falls as a mass killing weapon on Japanese people. At all moments in the movie, you can see that the project of making an atomic bomb is mentioned as a "scientific achievement," and again in the face of this "inevitability," a Soviet Union is created!

The film ultimately goes towards saying that this weapon should not be in the hands of countries as a weapon of war; in fact, it emphasizes this statement: "Now that we have the atomic bomb," others should not have it.

The film Oppenheimer has a dangerous weapon for everyone: the art of justifying tragedy; an art that justifies simultaneous murder of hundreds of thousands with complex equations and considers this inhumane massacre as part of humanity and development; an art that even Oscar displays itself mesmerized by and in conclusion, we see what happened on Tuesday morning in Los Angeles.
