Pars Today – Iran’s national basketball team claimed victory against Guam.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, in their first group-stage match of the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, Iran faced Guam and won 77–52. Arsalan Kazemi of Iran, with 10 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and an efficiency rating of 26, was named the best player of the match. In this tournament, Iran is in Group B alongside Japan, Syria, and Guam.
Former Palestinian national football star martyred
News sources reported the martyrdom of Suleiman Al-Obeid, captain and former player of the Palestinian national football team, in an Israeli regime attack. The 41-year-old former football star was martyred by Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday while waiting to receive food in the southern Gaza Strip.
Big win for Iranian women’s footballers against Malaysia
Iran’s under-20 women’s football team, in their first match of the 2025 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers on Wednesday, delivered an outstanding performance, defeating Malaysia with an emphatic 3–0 score.
With this result, the Iranian women took a firm first step toward advancing to the next stage of the competition. In their second match, the national team will face Guam on Friday, August 8.
