Strengthening cybersecurity cooperation between Iran and BRICS members
Pars Today – An Iranian official from the Information Technology Organization participated in a BRICS cybersecurity meeting and outlined Iran’s capabilities in cybersecurity as well as solutions for countering emerging threats.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, the 12th working group meeting of BRICS member states on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) security was held in New Delhi, India. Representatives of member countries exchanged views on strengthening cybersecurity, developing technical cooperation, and countering emerging threats in the digital space.
Hossein Momeni, Deputy Head of the Information Technology Organization of Iran and head of the Iranian delegation, attended the meeting and presented Iran’s perspectives, experiences, and capabilities in the field of ICT security.
Participants in the meeting emphasized the need to enhance security in the use of information and communication technologies, stressing the importance of countering the criminal exploitation of emerging technologies.
Members also highlighted the development of a secure, stable, peaceful, and interoperable environment in the field of information and communication technologies as one of the key objectives of joint cooperation among member states.
At the conclusion of the session, the working group members underscored the importance of expanding joint research, establishing mechanisms for academic and research exchange, and strengthening the capacity of computer emergency response teams to manage emerging challenges in ICT security.
They also agreed on the importance of enhancing cooperation between academic institutions and research centers of BRICS member countries in order to reduce skill gaps, facilitate knowledge transfer, provide technical assistance, and build a resilient and sustainable digital ecosystem.
