Over 40 terrorists killed in Afghanistan in past 24 hours

At least 43 terrorists have been killed during a counter-terrorism operation in Afghanistan over the last 24 hours, the country’s interior ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

The ministry added that there were 17 members of the Daesh terrorist group, banned in many countries including Russia, among the killed militants, Xinhua reported.

"In the past 24 hours, Afghan National Defense and Security Forces launched eight counter-terrorism operations in Kunar, Wardak, Nangarhar, Zabul, Logar and Kunduz provinces. As a result, 43 armed militants were killed and eight others wounded," the ministry said.

Afghanistan has been facing instability for many years, with government troops fighting against militants and terror cells.
